Our Great China Adventure - Getting ready for it
Hi all,
Welcome to a pre-trip informational letter. Honestly, we just want to get something on the blog to see how this is going to work. Yes, we are a "blog challenged" family so we've got to try this out to make sure it works. Thanks for your understanding.
Although we haven't received "official" papers from China we have gotten an email from Fanny, our contact at ZSTU, who says, "Go ahead, buy the tickets, you've got the job." Well, we purchased our tickets!
Both of us are eagerly awaiting take off but until then there is a lot to get ready. Because we will be teaching for 5 months and traveling for 1 there is so much to prepare. Not living in ones home -- thankfully we have a good and responsible friend living at the place -- takes on little details that must be dealt with unknownlingly most of the time. Many of you understand of what we speak, but for us, this is a first.
Taking care of the bills to be paid, medical stuff, visas, teaching materials, the cat, and of course, deciding what we REALLY we need to take with us is now waking us up in the early hours of the morning. Clothes for hot weather and cold, toiletries, electrical tools and accessories, odd implements of all sorts and without doubt, enjoyable reading materials are all on the list.
However, there is that one question that begs to be asked. Since everything is made in China why should we bring anything? Comfort of what we know and love might be the answer. Other than that all we have is that they don't make clothes for big guys so Michael is bringing more and me.
Well, we are at 67 days and counting. Let's hurry up and get there already!
